It’s not enough, apparently, to be a great honky-tonk guitar player, consistently unleashing squeaky-clean flurries of Danelectro whoopass. No, Jimmy Nations has to go and be a good songwriter as well. Raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, Jimmy grew up on what he calls “the sounds of the South”, and has since dragged them, rockin’ and wailin’, into a formidable big-city combo. Most tunes fall solidly in the upbeat, boogying Rockabilly and Western Swing vein, with a smiling nod to the ballads of the ‘50s and, of course, a healthy dose of Jimmy’s impeccable guitar playing.
